I am fully aware of how clichèd, generic and lazy this sounds but I truly am at a lost for words as there is little new I can say about Sátántangó. It is just as bleak, dreary, atmospheric, immersive, haunting, beautiful, serene and captivatingly draining as you’ve heard and there’s absolutely nothing like it. The isolated and derelict world of Sátántangó instils an underlying dread under each of its 432 minutes and it practically never dissipates. Just like the constant pouring of rain, it seems as if there is no end.
