Good Time

Good Time ★★★★★

After months and months of anticipation, tonight I finally got to see this extraordinary film. This was by far my most anticipated of the year and it did not disappoint. The Safdie Brothers are filmmakers that I need to get into more and next I’ll have to watch Heaven Knows What. Pattinson is excellent in this. He delivered a phenomenal performance.

One of the many things I loved so much about Good Time was the sound mixing. I wasn’t noticing it too much early on, but it was the scene when Connie went over to his girlfriend’s and the sound of her yelling at her mother in the background was perfectly synced with Pattinson’s dialogue in the foreground. The sound in this movie also captures the whole atmosphere of the city streets at night.

I absolutely adored this film and I can’t even begin to describe how excited I was for it. My expectations were exceeded. I love the whole concept of the story and the direction that it went, as it was totally different from how I expected it to be. Having said that, I actually didn’t know as much about the plot of this movie as I thought I did going into it. This is a thriller that is constantly moving and doesn’t stop until we see the credits roll over Benny Safdie’s face.

Best film of the year, hands down.
