“Is it scary?”
“You’ll see.”
Rewatch Review: Ari Aster is a man in control, who knows exactly what he wants from each of his films. The folk horror film ‘Midsommar’ is no different, painfully beautiful and groundedly scary, in much different ways than his previous ‘Hereditary’, with a beautiful balance of community and nature. Florence Pugh’s performance is a work of art, as is the film as a whole, and it’s filled with lots of symbology, mythology, drugs and ritualistic, cult activities that straddle the line between acceptable and nightmarish. It’s insane, slow-building and incredible, and I can’t wait to see what he does next.
