Letterboxd correspondents Ella Kemp and Isaac Feldberg take a breath between screenings to share their Cannes experiences and demystify the standing ovation.  

As the heat continued to blare down on them in the French sun, Ella Kemp and Isaac Feldberg sat down for a Festiville chat to assess the 2022 Cannes Film Festival at the midway point. Films like Aftersun, Armageddon Time and Moonage Daydream sparked excitement from the duo, while others, namely Ethan Coen’s documentary Jerry Lee Lewis: Trouble In Mind left a lot to be desired. And what’s the real tea behind all of those notorious Cannes walkouts and standing ovations?
