Playing Burt Fabelman, a cinematic recreation of Steven Spielberg’s father Arnold, in The Fabelmans, Paul Dano got a peek behind the curtain into the childhood of one of cinema’s greatest directors. We asked him about his own favorite early memories of film, and he told us about the feverish thrill of playing hooky to see Jurassic Park, how he never believed he could be Arnold Schwarzenegger, and Jack Nicholson in Five Easy Pieces being a personal touchstone for him as an actor.
