Crono’s review published on Letterboxd:
This is how you do a remake. Build on the original, make it your own, don't try to emulate. The 35mm and the muted colour palette look just as good as the original's insane neons. Thom Yorke's score is great and this movie actually has choreography. And it's crazy. I mean it is a dance school after all.
The plot is just as batshit but felt more coherent. Thematically there is a lot to unpack, being that it's not set in 1977 Berlin just for the fuck of it. Historical incidents such as bombings, kidnappings and hijackings, and Germany's WW2 history, are almost a B plot to the film. It's very very interesting.
"Polarising reviews" be damned. This is a good movie and one of the most unique and out there movies of the 2010s.
