The fewest votes in the decennial Sight & Sound 2022 Poll went to films from the decades of early cinema: the 1890s, 1900, and 1910s. Combined, these three formative decades were on par with the 2020s, which, when the poll was conducted, we were less than three years into. (Of course, another list for underappreciated early sound films would be welcome, but some kind of cutoff is necessary to make this meaningful.) Perhaps it can serve as a minor corrective for the next list, since this has long been the least-appreciated era of cinema, or simply a guide for those who are curious.
NB: Includes at least two silent films that also had sound versions, plus MODERN TIMES, which felt right to include.
