Christopher Moore’s review published on Letterboxd:
Another one to tick off the List of Shame. (SHAME!).
Boy, I'm glad I got around to this one. At this point, I feel like whatever resistance I may have once had to musicals has almost completely dissipated. West Side Story may be the one where it all clicks for me. Perhaps a new favorite genre is on the horizon? Look out Westerns!
The numbers and choreography, seamless editing, use of color, and environment are spectacular. The story may be light at times, but the fact West Side Story is a reworking of Shakespeare's Romeo and Juliet adds all the emotion and tragedy you could possibly want.
Now I just need to see this on the big screen. Watching it on my computer felt painfully inadequate.
