Curtis Loves Movies’s review published on Letterboxd:
I love Shane Black's sensibilities. So much so that I'm inclined to like pretty much anything he does. Add fantastic character actors like Gosling and Crowe, and it's 2 hours of laughs and "holy shit!"s.
A little uneven at times, with a sprinkling of jokes that fall flat and moments that just don't work, but for me The Nice Guys measures up to Kiss Kiss Bang Bang even if it retreads much of the same ground.
Black continues to amaze me with his ninja-like use of absurd coincidence and I-never-saw-that-coming surprises in his plotting. And his skillful staging of his action scenes is a gift in this era of shaky cam chaos.
