Once Upon a Time… in Hollywood

Once Upon a Time… in Hollywood ★★★½

there's a shot in here of dicaprio talking to a little girl, and it's not the most original idea, nor is it the best execution of this idea i've ever seen (frankly it's just him getting close to something like late swanberg) but it's probably my favorite shot in any of his movies, and i was really digging how content it was to just sit and show us these two actors in profile just acting, without anything else needing to get in the way of that

until the shot ends because quentin cuts out of it far too soon, at exactly the worst possible moment, in a way that not only kind of shits all over everything that shot had accomplished but also makes me wonder if he even understood what was so good about it in the first place, if it wasn't just an accident

anyway that's also kinda how i feel about this movie
