“What can you expect when you're on top? You know? It's like Napoleon. When he was the king, you know, people were just constantly trying to conquer him, you know, in the Roman Empire. So, it's history repeating itself all over again.”

    Dirk Diggler is a star. He’s a star, he’s a star, he’s a star. He’s a big, bright shining star.

So I finally got around to seeing this classic film. Yes, it’s as good as everybody says. However, I was quite shocked at how popular this is. Other than the fact that it’s a Scorsese film, it doesn’t deem any right to be popular and well-understood. I assumed Maleficent was more powerful than that, but I guess it’s because the three good fairies (the three baddest bitches) were stronger. Definitely not because of Prince Phillip, lol.

Hands down some of the best cinematography from 2019. Vibrant and rich colors all across the frame, Greta Gerwig’s adaptation makes the 1860’s feel so warm and inviting. With such a notable cast, this choice could’ve easily felt distracting and unnatural; however, nearly all perform with such loving passion and emotional nuance. Though the only distracting member is probably Bob Odenkirk as Father March, I guess this just proves I’d gladly see him play in any role.

This is just PTA doing what he does best: creating masterpieces.
I can’t wait to watch it again.

Peak cinema is when the Safdie brothers directed Adam Sandler to look at a rock and say “Holy shit I’m gonna cum.”
