Infinity Pool 2023
FW: Possible Photosensitivity
Infinity Pool was that sci fi horror that dipped deep into the twisted way you can lose humanity so easily when you don't have to fear death or consequences.
The story felt like a "trip gone wrong" kind of movie until it get deeper into the meat of what it was truly about. Similar to Possessor, this will put humanity and corrupted soul on display. The movie also gave us some weird over the top moments that…

Infinity Pool 2023
In the middle of a the bleak days of winter, it's nice to take a relaxing trip to the warmer days of a fancy resort, even if that resort exists in the demented mind of Brandon Cronenberg.
For a film that is getting a lot of talk about how "weird" it is, it's actually a very straightforward narrative with some clear messaging that isn't bogged down in a lecturing manner. Sure, the inconsequential actions of the rich who aren't afraid…

Infinity Pool 2023
A nepo baby makes a movie about a nepo baby, but unlike other nepo babies, B. Cronenberg seems to recognize the degree of his privilege and its this exploration of talent and self doubt via James Foster that makes the movie a treat to watch. A man who doesn’t fit in, whose only true skill is leeching off the elite and then is thrust into a hallucinogenic world of sex, drugs, and violence when he attempts to fit in. There’s…

Possessor 2020
Rewatched this since I haven’t been able to see Infinity Pool yet.
This is so good. Definitely one of my favorites and one I should watch more often.
I know people are debating about Andrea Riseborough’s Oscar nom this year (I haven’t seen To Leslie yet), but honestly I’m just glad she’s getting more recognition, she’s so talented and does so good here.
Glad Brandon scratches that same itch for me his father does. -
The Whale 2022
i knew that the author was just trying to save us from his own sad story. just for a little while.
think my viewing experience was elevated by having read the play like an hour before the screening — the play gives the story a bit more background and depth. would love to ask aronofsky why he changed thomas and alan from mormons to christians, i think explorations of religious guilt and ostracism would’ve been more powerful from a mormon… -
Fargo 1996
I mean, yeah, it's just one of the best movies ever made. I'm so glad to have finally seen it on the big screen, too! Up there with the best 90s movies, and my personal favorite of the Coen Bros.
Marge Gunderson might just be my favorite movie character of all time. I love how sweet and nice she is, but never a pushover. She's pure of heart, but not naïve. She's vulnerable, but not weak. She's brilliant, but not…

Ghost Dog: The Way of the Samurai 1999
"This ain't no ancient culture here, mister"
Such a fucking cool movie!
It's quite bizarre at first, there's a lot here that shouldn't work and that feels jarring (I love the wonky editing tho), but it's just so really fucking cool that I couldn't help but love it.
It's a hilarious film, letting a see a ridiculous world of filth, dirt, and dying people. It's messy, it's clumsy, but it feels authentic to a modern world, and it perfectly contrasts…
