Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone ★★★★

As I've said before, what a major feat to introduce a whole new world (one that would've looked completely different in the mind of every single reader of the series) richly and with depth, whilst also placing within it, an engaging and impressive story.

I can't remember the novel well but as far as I'm aware, it's the most faithful but that's most probably helped by the fact that the novel is the shortest of the series. That being said, the screenplay is something to be praised away from the original source. Incredibly quotable and just the right amount of cheesy.

The kids are also cheesy, fun, and delightful to watch. And what an incredible British cast featuring as the teachers. With lots more to come.

The wizarding world wouldn't have been possible without the incredible combined talent that created the VFX, special effects, costume, and production design. Some of the very best.

One word about the score: iconic.

I used to argue that this was my least favourite of the series but it delivers the almost impossible job of flawlessly introducing a well-loved world to the screen, and charming everyone who watched it.
