Dan Berlin’s review published on Letterboxd:
A fantastic performance from Adam Sandler from a director who knows his strengths. Ya love to see a comedy actor do dramatic work.
The early career Jon Brion score is enchanting as well, and likely worth a listen even if you weren't watching the film. And of course, the staging and cinematography by Anderson and Robert Elswit made it so that the quiet moments can seamlessly become loud ones in an instant.
Also, according to Wikipedia, this and There Will Be Blood had the same budget. Literally how.
