This will likely be the Oscar movie I remember least from 2023. I was supposed to log this last night but I forgot.
Emma Stone is great, obviously, that’s something we already knew. Idk if I needed 45 minutes of her being a baby though.

Crazy how well this holds up. Incredible performances across the board too.
Would be an Oscar movie if it was released now
One of the sweatiest movies of the year. Both in the literal and video game slang sense. Bradley Cooper wants you to know so bad that’s he’s a Film Maker. And he totally is! He’s really good! He’s just also trying so hard!
Not as “athletic” as A Star is Born, Maestro is still a showpiece for Cooper’s and Carey Mulligan’s talents. Though not sure how I feel about the “private life = writer/director” metaphor 🤔
Also wild that everyone lost their minds over Bradley Cooper playing a Jewish man but not caring about him playing a gay man. Much to ponder…
I’ve never seen a movie with this many QC fails in it before, holy shit I’d be so embarrassed to put this out. So many terrible 90s slow mo shots and a dip to green??? Horrendous.
There’s stuff here to enjoy (cool ships and fish) but the more I think about it, the less any of that stuff matters. Such a sad send off to an interminable era of terrible DC movies.
Worst crime here is the WOKE MOB turned my precious Aquaman into a guy who fights climate change!!! Get the politics out of my movie for babies!!!!!!
The first 45 minutes of this movie is an extreme test of patience for any child viewing it. If you can sit through the first half, you’re rewarded with a world of pure imagination.
Fun enough! Did not take itself too seriously but also didn’t undercut its own stakes.
Team-up chemistry was not forced at all and having Nick Fury as comic relief is a great choice.
Unhinged mid-credits scene too lmao. Honestly, better than the first movie!
Four credited editors on another Taika film…
This one felt kinda like a practical joke on everyone involved.
Was it a straight comedy? Yeah I guess.
Was it a sentimental feel-good sports movie? Sorta.
Was it an Oscar-baity follow up to Jojo Rabbit?Brother, I wish.
You got Fassbender, one of the great actors, cooking without any ingredients here. 😔
