Daniel Cruse’s review published on Letterboxd:
A wholly original, distrurbing, and iconic slasher. Freddy Krueger is the most entertaining killer of the big slasher franchises, the writing is witty, the kills are incredibly creative, and the movie is just fun.
I got to see it on the big screen tonight in a packed theater and it was a wonderful experience. Reliving all of those classic kills like it was the first time anyone had seen the movie was so much fun.
I feel like I can’t say much that hasn’t already been said when I do classic reviews but it’s an amazing movie and a staple for any horror fan.
The only things I don’t like are that occasionally the cheesy 80’s music kinda kills the scary tone, and every time I rewatch this movie, I forget how much I hate that stupid ending with the car and the mannequin being pulled through the front door window.
But other than those two things, it’s a fantastic horror entry and it spawned one of the most memorable characters of the genre with Freddy.
