    The novel Dune is sort of a holy cow to countless sci-fi fans, but I don't really care for it. David Lynch's execution is more interesting to me than the story itself, such as how the characters' personalities are informed by the excellent cast, or the rather baroque visual design. Obviously not every choice works; the decision include whispery inner-monologues for any given character is pretty jarring, for example. One of my favorite things about it is the measured pace.…
