Daniel’s review published on Letterboxd:
As someone who spent most of his early childhood in Sacramento and still visits family there every once in a while, it was refreshing to see a film that accurately portrays life there from one of its offspring who also happens to be one of my favorite actresses, writers; and now directors. Lady Bird is such a treat and a beautiful reminder to the hardships of adolescence and the tender yet intricate relationship of a mother and her child, I love my mom a lot despite all of our disagreements/disputes and am extremely grateful especially for all of the movies she’s brought me to (she even sat through mother! for me). It was exciting to see her find her new favorite film of the year during the 2 trips we took to the theater to see this, and for the both of us to discover a new favorite as relatable and heartfelt as Gerwig’s debut.
