A radical remake that is stylistically, visually and tonally almost completely opposite to that of the 1977 Dario Argento original (which I really must rewatch).
Over 2.5 hours long and I could've done with another hour. This is such a beautifully done film; I love how it uses its historical setting through character as well as event and audacious structure. The performances are outstanding - Tilda Swinton's roles are amazing, Dakota Johnson is luminous, Mia Goth is always utterly compelling. This Suspiria is a mystery as much as a horror and the gradual realisation I had as the plot unfolded about how it all might tie together was so rewarding. That final act is just genius.
I'm gonna have to buy this on Blu-ray when it finally gets released in the UK; I can't wait to see this again.
