Daniel’s review published on Letterboxd:
Luca Guadagnino‘s Suspiria is 2018’s crowning achievement in film. Suspiria takes cues from the original very minimally, aiming to cement itself as it’s own beast. This is definitely the best of the new wave of arthouse horror. It builds on its mystique until the third act rolls around and the veil over the insanity can no longer be contained. The intended unsettling brutality and pure evil really take shape on screen by way of Luca’s direction. Every performance in this is so layered especially Dakota Johnson’s. The soundtrack from Thom Yorke is fits perfectly. It’s so ambitious in the themes it tries to tackle and the scale of everything its really hard not to admire it. I can’t wait to see this again
