"Turn around"
I completely forgot to give the script a shout out in my first write up. When the film began and I saw that it won Best Screenplay at Cannes I was a bit surprised. Cinematography sure, but my impression of this film was not that it would have a script that would set itself apart (what can you do with a romance movie that focuses on mostly two characters?). As always happy to be wrong in this case. From the moment Marianne said "May I be curious?" I knew that someone special had put this script together. Some of these lines just floored me, and every line of dialogue was impressive. The very much sung hero of this film.
The acting, the costumes, the camerawork, the shots of the beach, the shots of the coast, the setup, the themes, the shots of Héloïse in her wedding dress, the shot of her on fire, the scene where the three girls are just being themselves, the song around the fire, THE ENDING. What a film.
