Cléo from 5 to 7 ★★★★

Was a little torn whether to give this 3 and a half or 4 stars but felt a little bad to sell it short. Loved the themes of existentialism and finding meaning in the mundane and this had some of the best depth of field in the shots that I’ve ever seen - the scope of the cinematography was just so wonderfully wide (which I think relates back to the themes of essentially discovering the world through a potential fatal catalyst). I think that I sometimes preferred what the movie was saying to the way that it was saying it but this has some great moments and is complex and meaningful as a piece of art from the performances to the sound design. It’ll definitely be worth revisiting this in the future to contemplate the character arc better after seeing the direction the film goes but, as of now, despite not adoring it like most do, it’s still another great addition from a great movement in cinema. 7.5/10
