Hour of the Wolf ★★★½

Bergman taking on the horror genre was bound to have some interesting moments and some of the cinematography/framing was nothing short of gorgeous. Some of the writing was of a really high standard and the end was actually pretty thought provoking but due to the nature of the plot revolving around a man going insane (and therefore everything raising another question rather than answering any) I found it hard to be as involved in the plot as I could’ve been if I received more gratification but I get that Bergman is going for a more abstract and confusing piece here for sure. It’s still well made and has some good concepts within it but I think it fails to reach the profound level of some of his other works while still having great acting and being a nice enough entry to his filmography.
