    The Hunt

This is one that I can get behind objectively more than for my own enjoyment. The premise is interesting, the ending makes you think and the acting and cinematography are both pretty damn good but the pacing was a bit slow for my liking. I think it was more that the idea was focused on more than characterisation and I’m big on fleshed out characters. However I can’t really shit on the film for the way it executed anything & I did find it interesting, just a little slow to rewatch for a good while I’d say.

This knew what it was completely and just offered up a fun time.

    What's Eating Gilbert Grape

This review may contain spoilers. I can handle the truth.

Sappy & sentimental with a little bit of edge - how can I complain? Gonna just get my piss taking out the way: death by stairs was kinda funny, it makes no logical sense to burn down a house for the reason they do, Gilbert straight up smacks around a disabled kid and we still sympathise with him (hats off to the writer/s 😉) and, to answer the question the movie title asks, probably his mother!
    Now the cheap pokes are…

  • Zack Snyder's Justice League

    Zack Snyder's Justice League

I watched the original in cinema and barely remember it aside from feeling it was god awful - I honestly don’t feel too differently about this. Absolute over indulgence in musical use comes to mind first, Wonder Woman can’t even enter into a scene without some tribal “AHHHHHHHHH” playing in the background. Is this movie an hour and a half or 4? Well the answer would be the former of the two if not for Snyder’s slow motion scenes! The…

    The Wizard of Oz

Had a great time with this and preferred it now to my drunken first watch. Complete classic with a lovely message - just don’t know how they got the effects and visuals so good for 39 tbf it’s actually baffling 😅.

  • Full Metal Jacket

    Full Metal Jacket

8.5/10 - when this is in your filmography and doesn’t even crack the top 3 (for me personally anyway) that shows what kind of a director Kubrick was! Regardless this has phenomenal cinematography, acting, music, tension & the first and second half manage to be haunting on different emotional levels, truly a fantastic movie full stop.

  • Requiem for a Dream

    Requiem for a Dream

I hate this movie purely because of how disturbing it is. That being said it’s also excellently done in all it’s nightmarish glory 😂.

  • Cars

Yeah it’s not elite Pixar but it’s got so much heart and some good music, how could I not enjoy it?

    (500) Days of Summer

Definitely preferred this on my rewatch - very creative film with good music and some relatable scenarios that really make some simple content go a long way!

The way I see it: great documentary about a great band! 😁

    Still perfect 😅

  • Soul

Absolutely intelligent and beautifully told in every way. More kids films should try to balance the depth this has with the entertainment value this also contains - a reflection on death, spirituality and the entire meaning of life that hits all the emotional notes within a brisk runtime - who could ask for more? 8.5/10
