Sometimes I am just not in the mood for the film I am seeing. Typically I really enjoy movies like READY OR NOT, but for whatever reason it just did not grab me in the way I wanted it to. Maybe it just isn't very good.
Horror comedy is a hard line to walk at the best of times and can be much more subjective to people's reviews. I appreciate those who try because they are certainly making a film that will not appeal to the masses, yet be criticized as if they were. It is kind of a no win situation.
That being said I just did not find this funny. It felt as if it were trying much to hard and as a result it landed with a thud. The performances are going for sincerity but come off as glib. The premise seemed a bit half baked and not as fleshed out as it could have been. Weirdly for how bust the film is, it lacked momentum and just felt like a slog to get through.
Again, this is all subjective, but I just didn't enjoy it. Maybe in a couple years, in a better mood it might work for me.
