It was ok. But really unneeded, and this Buzz just has nothing that makes the original Buzz so iconic. This felt like a big cash grab to capitalize on how huge the Toy Story franchise is. I originally rated this a 4/5 mainly because the theater I was in was very entertaining as it was full of little kids priceless reactions to the shit on screen, would you believe that at the end of this, they started applauding and cheering! In 10 years, they’ll probably be thinking to themselves, “Man, I was really diggin’ Lightyear (2022), I don’t think I can dig it any more. In fact, I can’t even remember anything from that damn movie!”
I saw this on release day, in a packed theater, and I only thing I can remember (other than the incredibly stupid Zurg reveal) was the children screaming when Sox almost died. Yeah this movie ain’t it chief.
In conclusion, skip Lightyear, watch Toy Story 2 (1999), you will feel much better about yourself, and your life decisions leading up to that point.
