Dave Taylor’s review published on Letterboxd:
A huge leap in quality over Quantum of Solace, and yet I’m still not a big fan of this.
The cinematography is great and Sam Mendes is a master director, but the pace is so slow…hell, it takes almost the length of the average movie to meet the goddamn villain! I really do appreciate the underlying concept of Bond and Silva being two sides of the same coin, and if they could have found a satisfying end shortly after the subway scene, this would be a ⭐️ ⭐️ ⭐️ ⭐️ movie.
But that fuckin’ Home Alone ending just kills me! It’s like a completely different movie and the pace grinds to a halt. I hated it when I first saw it in the theater and my opinion has not changed one bit!
