DavisMovieRev’s review published on Letterboxd:
Before Midnight is the perfect conclusion(?) to the Before Trilogy in that it is such a natural progression of the first two stories and its contemplations of love and marriage are incredible to behold. Linklater seems to understand the human psyche, be it our desires, passions, dislikes, tics or anything of that sort better than any other filmmaker I’ve seen. These films feel like pieces of philosophy written by Aristotle or Kierkegaard and not the work of a middle aged dude from Texas. I think it’s safe to say The Before Trilogy is my favorite trilogy in all of cinema. Each film is equally entertaining and poignant, and even if I can’t appreciate the latter two films yet, I can feel the universal truths behind them.
