It’s time to acknowledge that Elisabeth Moss deserves an Oscar already. Her Smell displays Moss at her most electrifying and extravagantly nuanced, making for her best performance to date. The existential nihilism of Alex Ross Perry is never lost, yet its juxtaposition with such ferocity and vitality is wondrous and mesmerizing — it just also happens to be achingly anxiety-inducing and infuriating the entire time (in all the right ways).
