  The Holdovers 2023

  The Holdovers seems uninterested in reframing the past to fit present values. It doesn't want to spark passionate debate about big issues. It simply wants to tell a quirky and moving story about three different people, each wounded in their own way, whom circumstance brings together one Christmas break over half a century ago. It succeeds at this goal spectacularly and is absolutely worthy of your time and attention. Full review HERE.

  Captures solitude and friendship as well as any film andproves that not all anthropomorphic cartoon animals have to crack wise with adultcomedian voices. Love the ‘80s New York setting full of accurate details, the colorfulold school 2D visuals, and the ease with which it tells a story withoutdialogue (and with multiple variations on the bestest Earth, Wind & Firesong). In an alternate universe, other animation studios are making movies likethis. In ours, this stands alone as something unique and special. Well done,Pablo Berger!
