Hooptober 7.0 Film #2/34
BONUS FILM #1
Cinemonster. Why have you forsaken us?
My list: HERE
I remember logging on each day to see the progress of this beloved challenge. I would be on here waiting for Cinemonster’s next update on his upcoming hoopertober challenge. There was even a sort of count down. Little things like “soon” and “tomorrow,” sparked a sort of giddy excitement from me.
Then the day finally came. I read the introduction and made my way down to the rules. I scroll through imagining my picks for each one and then I see it....
The Cube 2: Hypercube
I couldn’t believe it.
Not only is it a film I have already seen, but goddamn is it terrible. I know watching a bonus film may be a little controversial so early on in the challenge, but idgaf. I’m going to get this shit over with.
The movie itself? Well what is there to say that isn’t readily apparent. Boring, meandering, boring, dumb, boring, kind of hilarious, bad CGI, boring, and then montages. There is clearly no understanding to what made the first one so good. There didn’t even seem to be an attempt to understand. Even the traps are dull and lifeless. They’re as lifeless as these characters and as dull as the pointless “twists.”
If you ever end up reading this Cinemonster, I want you to know I still love you for creating this amazing challenge. But I’ll always have an unfounded deep seeded hatred for anyone who has me rewatch The Cube 2: Hypercube.
Thanks. I hope you enjoyed my pain.
