There is a good movie in there somewhere, but it's hard to overlook the missteps in rhythm and flow, not to mention the very pedestrian camerawork. This film has some fun writing and is held up high by two terrific performances - especially Gosling. There are laugh out loud moments and the story twists and turns, you never know what's coming next, and you can follow what's happening.
If only they'd found a proper director and editor.
