Ugetsu ★★★★

Visual and mysterious, Ugetsu doesn't play like most 50s films. It's a black and white fairy tale, a story retold, concerning war and history and eventually the ghosts that haunt us because of our actions. It's a fantasy of families, done beautifully and with striking imagery. The first time we see Lady Kutsuki standing in the market is jarring, haunting even in black and white.
