Nathan Anderson’s review published on Letterboxd:
An excellent and often comical satire on how inefficient bureaucratic governments can be when handling disasters, as well as the first Godzilla film in years to touch on post-WWII Japan as much as the 1954 original; something I feel is the franchise's most important and deeply resonating thematic material.
But I also appreciate how the slow-burn style is used to great effect as a subversive take on the giant monster genre. Godzilla's world-destroying antics play second fiddle to all that great satire, but without sacrificing the spectacle of one of the most horrifying and brutal versions of the iconic monster.
