Ross T’s review published on Letterboxd:
Took me a long time to get around to seeing this as I wasn’t too interested when it first hit cinemas, based on the trailer. It looked like a chavvy Bond rip-off/spoof, and I had no idea there was a comic book as inspiration.
I should have given it more consideration even just based on the cast, as there are many names present who rarely let the side down.
It has plenty of spy movie tropes, Bond nods and winks and the occasional full on piss-take, but overall it’s much better than I expected because the humour, drama, and action are all so well balanced and it feels fresh.
It’s simply a whole load of fun, and somehow managed to make me believe Colin Firth could have been a better Bond than Moore, Brosnan or Craig.
