Dennis Duffy’s review published on Letterboxd:
Jesse driving off into the darkness in the show was a fittingly bittersweet end but for a character that was so repeatedly beat down over the course of the show I understand why Vince Gilligan felt the need to revisit him. Thankfully this was a mostly satisfying and definitive end for the character.
Aaron Paul effortlessly stepped back into this role and was game enough to never make it boring. It still feels like Breaking Bad and features a lot of the creative cinematography and storytelling we all love without feeling like fan service topped off with a western inspired climax that I absolutely adored.
In this movie Jesse comes to terms with what he’s done and finally takes control of own his story. It wasn’t perfect but watching him find some sort of happiness was all I wanted and that’s what I got.
