My first complaint about this movie is when I looked at the cast list it gave away a twist. It didn’t really matter tho, since my second complaint is this movie is basically terrible. Sure there are some scares but who cares?

There is an interesting movie here somewhere, but this has a real first draft feel.

This movie also has one of the most unnecessary epilogues I’ve ever seen.

  • Mandy

This is the most metal movie I have ever seen. That’s obviously a compliment. From the score to the look, which is very prog rock concept  album cover art, it’s just bizarrely perfect.

Somehow this is the most restrained and grounded Cage performance in I can’t remember how long. Roache is incredible, too.

It also has the most relatable film moment ever for me: when Mandy laughs at the cult leader’s song.

I laughed out loud when Linus Roache said ‘I’ll blow you, man. I’ll suck your fucking dick.’

I’m going to be positive: it def gets better about two and a half hours in.

Love Jeremy Irons. Love Nick Cave.  Love the slo-mo hot dog/ sesame seed bit.

And I def get Zack Snyder’s vision now. I would probably enjoy his vision more if he accepted the fact that he makes popcorn flicks, and not very enjoyable ones. (Based on one and half movies) god his style is exhausting and ultimately boring. I don’t know what the technical term is but I hate the way this movie looked and it seems to be his thing?

okay I got negative at the end.

    The Shining

This is the most realistic movie of a kid living in  a home with an abusive father and mom who only gets it when the dad is about to kill them that I’ve ever seen. The performances by Duvall and Nicholson are so fucking real. I know exactly how Danny felt when he asked his dad if he would ever hurt him and his mom, and how it felt knowing he had to rely on his borderline ineffectual mom. Ugh.…
