I first watched 2001: A Space Odyssey around 2 years ago, and for quite a while since, I've listed it as my fifth favourite film of all time, yet I have never seen it since.

As I'm currently staying in my cousin's flat, and she has a projector and a large screen in her living room, I decided to take advantage of that, and the fact that I was slightly under the weather yesterday, to have a second go at it.

I finished it last night, and I'm even less sure of it's position now. It is fantastic and captivating, but just the shear scale, and utter uniqueness of the film, makes it difficult to categorise next to anything else. I don't connect to it as much as other films I've watched, but it is so monolithic, to not recognise it's effect on me would be wrong.

Guess I'll just have to watch it again.
