Dan Holford’s review published on Letterboxd:
Certainly saw more of the flaws of this film than the first time I watched it. While I love all of taikas movies, the humour in this while mostly working does certainly undercut a lot of the serious moments a little too jarringly.
Chris Hemsworth and Mark Ruffalo really nail their fish out of water characters once more and this was where I truly appreciated their characters. Tessa Thompson does however almost outshine them with her likeable and great performance, with Tom Huddleston sinkijg back into his role perfectly.
The action scenes feel small scale and dangerous with ultimately large consequences that are slightly undermined by the jokes and humour that come literally seconds after.
Overall it’s a stunning looking, funny and action packed romp that perhaps is better on first viewing when most of the jokes haven’t yet been memed to death.
Also it’ll be a tradegy is Jeff Goldblum never returns. Kevin fiege, please make a collector and grand master film, just for me.
