Definitely need a second viewing to track all the ideas Peele’s interested in but this thing fucking whips.
Plays AWESOME with a crowd. The character highs and lows really resonated with my audience. I felt the air leave the room when Jason said, "there's a family in our driveway."
If GET OUT was about surviving injustice, fighting to keep identity from being taken from you, maybe US is about how surviving isn't enough? Maybe it never was? Things can never go back to the way they were, not that they were any good in the first place. It's all a violent facade eating away at everything until all that's left is us. Hands across America are covered in blood. It's way passed time to acknowledge that, and hopefully it's not too late to do something about it.
Or maybe it is too late and we should just enjoy the ride.
Very unsettled driving home after. Why the fuck are so many people wandering the streets right now??? like, wtf is wrong with people.
