Phantom Thread

Phantom Thread ★★★

anderson’s untactful approach towards gestures is still distracting, as he insists on inflating them to a senseless extent, but his humour has never been so efficient. also, this is definitely his most organized film thematically, provided with some intelligent tonal shifts, starting off from fassbinder’s martha, ending on hitchcock’s rebecca, a power struggle where dominance, eternity, abstraction and a weird transposition of an oedipan complex towards indumentary coalesce towards the conception of love.
