Dion Wyn’s review published on Letterboxd:
Francis Lee’s sophomore film is endearing and rather touching. Using the untameable landscape and elements surrounding the area, we enter a world that is unpredictable and natural. The storyline for Ammonite is linear, and it unfolds as you would predict.
What makes this a compelling watch is Saoirse Ronan and Kate Winslet. No words are needed to express emotion their body language, expressions and their soul widening eyes tell you everything.
Francis Lee’s soft yet rustic close-ups and mood-inducing colourisation conceptualise a new dawn for our protagonist lives. It may be testing, but their love for each other is all that matters.
I need to digest this some more.
