Dark Waters ★★★

This works best when it’s driven by outrage and anger that surpasses all barriers - problem is that so much of this movie is a cycle of cardboard-dry statistics, rumpled suits, and tungsten-lit boardrooms.

Sure, there’s some formal ideas that are appealing and mark the involvement of a visual artist as uncompromising as Haynes, but I didn’t find enough about this movie to elevate it from the likes of Norma Rae, Erin Brockovich, or even A Civil Action.

I think it’s time for Todd to write a movie he directs again.
