DIREKTIONZ’s review published on Letterboxd:
I’ve written many many paragraphs about Dune eventually even comparing the confusing plot and the endless exposition that is thrown into your face with school itself and my teachers. I’ve decided to delete it, being clueless what to write about this mess, then decided to be self-indulgent and write this and probably know myself that I will delete this before anyone ever is going to read it, but now I’m unsure. I’m unsure about everything. What the fuck was this film about, I have no idea. Every scene of this was just exposition thrown at me with ugly and repetitive production and costume design, with many many brilliant actors in it and all I could think of is the missed potential. Then we get some traditionally weird sequence of who the fuck knows, monsters, creatures, humans that spit oil (or I have no idea) and having homosexual subtext that doesn’t nearly get enough attention. I have never been this in awe of how such an expensive film could’ve ended being such a mess in literally every single eXistenZ (auto-correct fuck it) aspect.
It shows that I haven’t read the novel
