I have embarked on a journey to watch as many 'franchise' films as possible, and rate them along the way. The intent is to collate the data and figure out whether it points to any particular trends or interesting observances. The ratings are according to my own personal taste and feeling at the time of watching.
For the purpose of this exercise, I am including as many films that fall into any one of the following categories:
- Has at least one sequel
- Has at least one prequel
- Has a remake/reboot associated with it
- Films associated closely with each other, if not directly related, especially if attributed as such by the film-makers (eg. Gates of Hell or Cornetto trilogies)
- Prominent alternate cuts (eg. William Peter Blatty's recut of Exorcist III)
For the sake of my sanity, I'm not considering movies that share the same broad universe (eg. Askewniverse or Tarantinoverse).

This could take some time.
