Introverted Slow Burns
An Almodóvar-esque portrait of a trans woman as she navigates her grief in an unaccepting world. The film is elevated by Daniela Vega's remarkable performance and portrayal of the suffocation transgender individuals experience on top of gender dysphoria. Nearly half of young transgender individuals attempt suicide, and nearly half are sexually assaulted in their lifetime. It could have been a much darker film, but instead focuses on the dignity and humanity that society does not allow her to have.
