I rewatched this a few months ago and have not stopped thinking about it. An absolute masterpiece of filmmaking that happens to populate a genre of largely artless & commercial products.

Babe is the family film of all family films. I’m convinced Marcel the Shell is the most recent film to get anywhere close to this craft. Sure, there is fantastic animated projects releasing every year, but live action (or in the case of Marcel, animated & live action) family films are…

    The Gray Man

At first I thought this was super cool! Goofy action sequences staged in over the top locations? I was happily willing to just laugh my way through it…and then I wasn’t willing, so I turned it off.

    3rd times the charm.

Best way to watch this movie
    - Do not read a thing.
    - Do not pause / look at the timeline.
    - Get really stoned.

The closer everyone gets to a theater experience with this, the better. The score rules but the star of the show is Stephen Mirrione. His editing is absolutely unbelievable. The rapid pace & constant excitement is so unique. It makes GO one of my favorite “what should we watch?” movies of all time. Funny, Thrilling and plenty of surprises. Ahead of its time in so many ways.

THROW THIS ON. YOU WONT REGRET IT!

    The movie is the trailer.

It’s shot well, I really enjoyed the Keke Palmer performance & laughed a few times. Beyond that, NOPE is exactly what it’s sold to be. Nothing more, nothing less. All I wanted was a surprise, unfortunately surprise is what this film lacks the most. There’s nothing here beyond what you’ve been sold.

I had fun, that’s about it. Not even a killer IMAX experience could distract me from my disappointment. Get Out remains Jordan Peele’s strongest film by a pretty shocking margin.

Up a half star, it’s hard not to look back at this movie and smile about seeing it.
