I thought this was decent fun for a reboot. Crowd pleasing but not reliant on "remember this?" moments. Though of course there are a few of those moments, I didn't find many to be that obnoxious. Also the premise of the finale being that Jamie Lee Curtis gets to hunt Michael for revenge, is a decent mirror to the original Halloween.

This movie rules! Great practical effects, excellent pacing and the ideal amount of '80s cheese. I really like the small town setting and I was surprised at some of the victims the titular blob decides to eat up as well, it's not totally predictable in that regard. Despite the body horror, this is actually very charming with decent characters and good jokes.
Just a very fun film as a whole, feels a bit like Gremlins but with a far darker edge.
