Synecdoche, New York

Synecdoche, New York ★★★★★

Holy shit! What a film this was! It's one of those films that leaves you with so much to think about after it's finished.

I don't think I fully understand everything the film was showing, but from what I gathered it's mostly about how time passes and the concept of death. Sounds incredibly pretentious, but it's really interesting and masterfully done.

Fantastic performances all round, with Philip Seymour Hoffman giving a particularly amazing one. The direction is very inspired and the amount of thought put into every single scene is incredible. Charlie Kaufman has proven himself as a great writer with his previous films being great (that I've seen at least) and this is probably his greatest script yet.

I'd recommend this to anyone who's interested in film as everyone's bound to get something from it. It's depressing, darkly funny and as a whole a joy to watch. Definitely something I'm going to be watching again very soon.
