Sebastian Butt’s review published on Letterboxd:
I can appreciate that seeing a woman wallop a man who has spent the entirety of the film mansplaining to and gaslighting her is satisfying on its own, and the twist that Vers has been participating in imperialist genocide is a cool idea. However, when one steps back and takes into account this is basically a recruiting tool for the biggest real life imperialist genocide commiters (The US Military) it begins to lose what luster it had. Couple that with wholly uninspiring cinematography, editing, and music choices and the whole thing feels like an insincere mess.
Fuck the trolls, but also, make a better product next time, Marvel. Quit leaning on 90s Whedon-esque empowerfulness.
